What should you expect during the Concert Study?
Patients will be asked to stay in the Concert Study for 12 months. Patients will take tablets 3 times daily in addition to the Aricept® (donepezil HCl tablets) they are already taking. Two-thirds of patients will receive Dimebon, the drug being studied. One-third of patients will receive placebo (sugar pill), which does not contain active medicine.
Patients and their main caregiver will be seen at their study doctor's office about 10 times. At each visit, the doctor will assess the patient's safety and how well the treatment is working, as well as interview the caregiver. Patients will receive medical care throughout the duration of the study.
Continuing treatment on Dimebon
All patients who complete the 52-week study, including those taking placebo, will be able to take part in another study where they will receive Dimebon at no financial cost.
